Synopsis of Jerry Springer - The Opera
Winner of the 2004 Olivier Award for Best Musical, this operatic restaging of "The Jerry Springer Show" delivers an ironic universal message: Is television a mirror or a moral agent for our society? As people confess to an assortment of infidelities and guilty secrets, the television host eventually finds himself in a hell of his own making and is called upon to effect a reconciliation between the two ultimate adversaries - Jesus and Satan. Critics have hailed this provocative, ground-breaking new work as "scatological and theological, puerile and profound."
